And Now, You Yourselves Can Rest Well…In God’s Mercy…And God’s Abundant Love…Amen

Aye…”I love God because he listened to me, listened as I begged for mercy. He listened so intently as I laid out my case before him. Death stared me in the face, hell was hard on my heels. Up against it, I didn’t know which way to turn; then I called out to God for help: “Please, God!” I cried out. “Save my life!” And…God is gracious—it is he who makes things right, our most compassionate God. God takes the side of the helpless; Yep…when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me. Then…I said to myself, “Relax and rest. God has showered you with blessings. Soul, you’ve been rescued from death; Eye, you’ve been rescued from tears; And you, Foot, were kept from stumbling.” (Psalm 116:6-8 MSG); And Nope…It wasn’t so long ago that we ourselves were stupid and stubborn, dupes of sin, ordered every which way by our glands, going around with a chip on our shoulder, hated and hating back. But when God, our kind and loving Savior God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. For…Our Savior Jesus poured out new life so generously. And…God’s gift has restored our relationship with him and given us back our lives. And there’s more life to come—an eternity of life! You can count on this. (Titus 3:3-8 MSG); And Truly…this is still a live promise. It wasn’t canceled at the time of Joshua; otherwise, God wouldn’t keep renewing the appointment for “today.” So…The promise of “arrival” and “rest” is still there for God’s people. For…God himself is at rest. And at the end of the journey we’ll surely rest with God. So let’s keep at it and eventually arrive at the place of rest, And…not drop out through some sort of disobedience. (Hebrews 4:8-11 MSG); And Always, Always…Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (Psalm 106:1)”…Amen
